The Best Time To Book a Cabin in Montana
After helping almost 3,000 groups rent a cabin in Montana over the past 14 years, we have learned a few things about the annual booking cycle. Of course no two years look exactly the same, but we see similar patterns each year. We’ve created this infographic that shows when our guests book with us:
October through December – 17%
These are the early planners that know their dates, typically want to visit Montana in June, July or August, and realize that if they don’t book early they will not get their desired dates. These stays tend to be longer in duration and many of these guests stay with us every year.
January – 11%
The holidays are over, the winter doldrums have set in, and people are thinking about their summer plans in Montana. Our phone rings a lot and the website is busy. January is only second to July for new bookings.
February through May – 33%
One third of our guests book during these 4 months. Summer is getting close and they don’t want to miss out on the best properties for the best dates.
June through September – 39%
Although this is the busiest stretch of the year for cabin bookings, this period is dominated by shorter stays, flexible dates, and less concern about which cabins are still available. In many cases we aren’t able to accommodate potential guests for the summer as the calendars have limited dates available for rental.
So when is the best time to book a cabin in Montana?
We advise our guests to book just as soon as they know their dates. Nothing is more frustrating for a guest than to check our calendars to find out that the dates they have been eyeing are no longer available at their desired property.
These days about 75% of our bookings are made online with no advance notice, and our calendars change on a daily basis as a result. So with this in mind, here is our advice:
If you know the dates of your trip – it’s best to book before January 1st.
If you plan to visit during July – it’s best to book before January 1st.
If you plan to stay for a week or more – it’s best to book before January 1st.
Now that booking season is underway for next summer, is it time for you to book your Montana Cabin rental?
